Clarkson C.H.S. Education Support Units currently have approximately 30 students from Year 8 through to Year 12. There are four education support units catering for students with a wide range of capabilities. Teaching these classes there is the equivalent of four full time teachers and at present the equivalent of 6 full time education assistants. Of the four units three units cater for year eight, nine and ten students (lower school), whilst the remaining unit caters for year 11 and 12 students (senior school). The lower school units have a slightly more academic focus than the senior school unit which has a focus on transition from school to post school options

Lower School Education Support

Individual Education Plans (IEP's), an emphasis on literacy and numeracy, independent living skills, social skills and preparation for Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) through Work Studies and Community Access form the basis for students' education.

Senior School Education Support

Students move from IEP's to Individual Transition Plans (ITP's). Academic improvement, particularly literacy and numeracy remain a focus, but exploration and development of work options, and further development of independent living skills and recreation skills assumes a greater importance. Students participate in Structured Workplace Learning for a minimum of 1 day per week. Students are assisted to determine and assess post school options relevant to their needs and abilities.
